Ignatian Vision: Donna Wiench (Oregon Province), Phil Nero (Wisconsin Province) and Matt Roche, SJ (New York Province) will discuss ways that publications—particularly those at the high school and college level—can promote the Ignatian vision and mission of the institutions they represent.

Breakout groups: Participants will meet colleagues from related areas of work in open areas of Pavonia Room or in classrooms in either Dinneen or McDermott Hall. Moderated open-forum discussions.

 

10:30–11:45 A.M.

Proofreading/Copyediting: How do you keep embarrassing errors from hitting the printed page?

           Fairfield’s Linda Gustavson joins Jesuit High school in Sacramento’s Chris Turdury and Saint Louis University’s Chris Waldvogel in rounding up ideas and leading a discussion of different tricks to heading off problems at the pass.

 

12:00–1:00 P.M.

1:15–2:30 P.M.

Photography—Award-winning photojournalist Joe McNally will give a presentation to attendees on what it looks like from the photographer’s side of the camera, tips on photo composition and editing, and how best to make use of photos in print. Visit his website at www.joemcnally.com

Legal Matters: David McCraw, attorney for The New York Times, will discuss First Amendment responsibilities and libel risks.
