2006 Conference in Rome

The Association of Editors of Jesuit Publications held its 10th annual conference this June in Rome. The week began with a celebration of the Eucharist at the Jesuit Curia followed by an excursion to St. Peter's for the papal blessing at Angelus.

Conference participants stayed in a hotel about two minutes' walk from St. Peter's and about five minutes' walk from the Jesuit Curia, which hosted our meetings.

Conference attendees gathered at the curia for talks and discussion with a number of officials there, including Fr. Jose de Vera, SJ, Director of the Office of Information; Fr. Luis Magriñá, International Director of Jesuit Refugee Service; Fr. James Grummer, Regional Assistant for the United States, and Father General Peter-Hans Kolvenbach.

the rooms of Ignatius, the Gesu, and St. Ignatius Church.

Fr. Tom Reddy, SJ, the archivist at the Curia, gave conference participants a tour of the historical treasures there, including letters signed by Ignatius and his death mask.

Outdoors—food—wine—music—what more do you need? Attendees enjoyed a feast at the delightful da Meo Patacca restaurant in Trastevere.
