2008 AEJP
Fordham University, Bronx

Fordham University logoThe Association of Editors of Jesuit Publication's 12th annual meeting this July had a distinct East-Coast venue: Fordham University in the Bronx.

Our host, Ryan Stellabotte, editor of Fordham's magazine, put together a first-class series of sessions on magazine design and redesign and photography. Among other speakers, we heard from Busted Halo's co-founder Mike Hayes (if you're not familiar with Busted Halo's ministry to young adults, go to his remarkable site, bustedhalo.com).

Participants spent a day in Manhattan, visiting a magazine exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art and hearing from presenters at Fordham's Lincoln Center campus.

Stephen & Erica

AEJP participants, including Stephen Boyd Saum, editor of Santa Clara University's SCU magazine, and Erica Zlomislic, communications officer for the Jesuits' English Canada Province zipped over to Manhattan from Fordham's Bronx campus and saw an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art on Esquire magazine covers of graphic designer George Lois.

Tim Reidy, webmaster for America magazine's website, walked AEJP participants through the restructuring he's accomplished for his magazine's web presence. www.americamagazine.org

Fordham University

Fordham University's Rose Hill campus in the Bronx was the venue for AEJP 2008; a 20-minute train ride got participants into mid town Manhattan, to Fordham's Lincoln Center campus, for a meeting with graphic designer Sherri Koetting, pro photographer Jon Roemer, and magazine designer Claude Skelton.

Mark Motz, director of communications and publications at St. Xavier High in Cincinnati, wields the mike during a q and a session. Laura Geiser, senior director of creative services at Saint Louis University and editor of its magazine, and Dick VandeVelde, SJ, Company magazine's business manager and webmaster, are on Mark's right.
