Items on our house style sheet not covered in our manual: We hope that most everything is covered in our style book, but we update every 12-18 months. Always something new/overlooked! Our style for identifying named Jesuit priest is: The Rev. John Smith, S.J. Never use Fr. or Father. On second reference, last name only is used--with all names. Our president is referred to either (and only) as "The Rev. Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., University President" or "University President Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J." "Ignatius" is preferred over "St. Ignatius." "Mass" is used instead of "mass;" however, "church" is always used; never "Church," unless as part of formal edifice/sect name. Also, "Department of Philosophy" or "philosophy department"--never "Philosophy Department." Ditto: "School of Law" or "law school"--never "Law School."

Items on our house stylesheet that override our manual: In our style book, "university" is never capitalized when it stands alone. However, in official documents (select invitations from president's office, honorary degrees)capitalization is sometimes used.

Unresolved issues: again, ongoing process. We have battles and sometimes "give in." Current one that has yet to be resolved: our development team does not like our years-old practice of our referring to "fund-raising" when they want us to change to "fundraising." I say let the editors take care of style and the fund-raisers stick to fund-raising...
