Association of Editors of Jesuit Publications

St. Paul's High School, Winnipeg, Canada

Name & title: Jason Brennan

Institution & publication: St. Paul's High School - St. Paul's News

Type of publication: newsletter

Readership audience: alumni, donors, faculty/staff, parents of alumni and current students

Number of pages: 16-32

Frequency of publication: 3x per year

Circulation: 7500

Color: 2-color

Interesting facts about the publication: The design and content structure has not changed in almost 20 years As a smaller school (600 students) the distributions costs threaten our ability to maintain frequency.

Dictionary: Oxford English

Reason for using dictionary: Canadian spellings of certain words often differ from U.S.

Items on our house style sheet not covered in our manual: We have not formalized the use of this type of langauge at the school. There is an informal guide in a sense in the observance of back issues/word usages. Formalization is a process that we will undertake as a part of a redesign/relaunch process for 2006.

Unresolved issues: I am keen to learn from others on the usage of Catholic and Jesuit language and terms.
